    Masked Jack O'Lantern Glass Ornament

    Size: 8cm x 7.6cm x 6.4cm

    Size: (Witches Hat): 12cm x 7.6cm x 6.4cm

The origin of Jack O'Lanterns can be traced back to the Irish folktale of Stingy Jack, a man so cruel that even the devil himself refused to let him into hell. He was branded "Jack of the Lantern" for his plight of wandering the world at night with only a carved turnip and a coal shard for light. As a result, people started putting carved pumpkins, known as Jack O'Lanterns, in their windows to ward off spirits.

Halloween has its origins in the ancient festival of Samhain, the Celtic New Year, when spirits were allowed to return to earth to visit. Christianity incorporated this into All Hallow s Eve, Oct. 31, prior to All Saints Day. The Irish brought Halloween to America in the 18th century, with the tradition of dressing in costumes and playing pranks in the hope of keeping evil spirits away.

This glass ornament is available in 2 styles, please select your choice - subject to availability.

    Did you know?

The production process of making glass Christmas ornaments is not easy and requires a lot of practice. The glass worker starts with a long glass tube, which is heated over a burner to a temperature of 800 degrees Celsius. At such high temperatures, the glass becomes fluid like and a blower can give it the desired shape. The glass cools quickly, so it is difficult to fix mistakes.
