    During the 17th century in England, Christmas was outlawed. A confectioner came up with the candy cane to satisfy the demand. It's in the shape of a shepherd's crook, which is a symbol of Jesus, and it has three narrow stripes, which stand for the Holy Trinity, and one thicker stripe, which represents Jesus' sacrifice for humanity.
